Messy Monkeys

Discover A Wonderful World Of Messy Play!

Founded to encourage creative free play for babies and toddlers, Messy Monkeys was set up by two mums back in 2010.

Since then, the company has taken the nation by storm, with a fantastic team of franchisees running Messy Monkey classes across the UK, spreading the unique brand of  messy play far and wide.

Skipton local, Amanda Belt, runs Messy Monkeys Harrogate and Craven, with weekly classes (for 6 months to 3 year olds) offering exploration in to the wonderful world of messy play.

This year, Messy Monkeys Harrogate and Craven have been nominated in the ‘Most Moved Activity’ category at the ‘What’s On For Kids Awards’ (of which they were finalists last year!) What’s more, Amanda herself has been nominated for the award celebrating the ‘Most Loved Activity Leader or Business Manager in the North of England’

Sessions are run by Amanda and Hazel, who both have backgrounds in childcare and development. A dream for many parents, this group allows you to watch with glee as your little ones squelch gloop, splash water and splodge paint, knowing you don’t have to do the clean up! The relaxed environment allows you to let your little one explore their artistic side, without sacrificing your beloved home. Parents and carers stay with the children, giving them the opportunity to bond with their little one and spend quality time discovering their creativity and enjoying a number of sensory experiences.

Sessions are kept small and intimate, with a maximum of 16 children at a time. Booking

in advance (via the website) is essential in order to secure a place. The booking form also asks for any allergy information in order to make sure the session can be tailored to accommodate such requirements. Health and safety, cleanliness and safeguarding is of the utmost importance; all materials are non-toxic and baby friendly, sourced from specialist educational companies and all equipment is washed and sterilised after every session.

Amanda and her team are determined to be as environmentally friendly as possible. This year, Amanda received the Fair Play Award, celebrating her dedication towards ensuring ethics and sustainability are at the heart of her Messy Monkeys sessions. There are no single use plastics in any of the sessions, plastic straws are banned, only biodegradable glitter and palm oil free bubbles are used and they recycle and repurpose wherever possible. They also launder and clean with biodegradable, allergy friendly soap nuts, making sure to avoid any unnecessary chemicals and have introduced measures to cut down on the use of baby wipes.
