Homemade and Truly Amazing

The Courtyard opened in May 2012 in an old traditional farmstead. Located on the main A65 just outside Settle, you will find a small selection of shops including The Courtyard Dairy, Lime Gallery, Buon Vino, Abraham Moon, Dalesbred Furniture and The Brasserie.

The Brasserie is easy to find with plenty of parking available. It offers all day dining, starting with breakfast treats, pastries, coffee, cake and leading on to afternoon tea. It holds special events and in January introduced the steak night and opened Saturday evenings for dinner.

We booked for the ‘Friday Steak Night’ - two rump steaks with chips and salad and a bottle of house wine for only £25! We were met by the lovely manager Monika, who showed us to our table; she went through the menu with us then brought over some water whilst we perused the menu, and admired our surroundings: we loved the modern decor, the quirky cushions and artwork.

We chose the bottle of house white (priced at just £15) from their good selection, chosen from the on site wine retailer.

Bryan chose the hot smoked mackerel starter, served with fine capers, dressed salad and a horseradish cream, it looked delicious and he wasn’t disappointed. I chose the French onion soup from the specials. It was piping hot and served with warm bread and butter... Just scrummy!

We had a very well-timed break before our steaks arrived. Cooked just as we both had asked, the steaks were a good size, tender and tasty; the ‘twice cooked chips’ were to die for and the salad, crispy and fresh. You can add sauces, onion rings, mushrooms etc for an additional cost.

We were fit to burst but had already spied others in the restaurant tucking into the sticky toffee pudding from the specials menu and we didn’t want to miss out... Bryan ordered the STP with ice cream and I went for the apple and blackberry crumble with creme anglaise. The desserts were extremely generous in size, homemade and both truly amazing.

Monika and her staff were most friendly and efficient, and there are various themed nights lined up for the year.

We will be sure to return very soon with all the family to look around The Courtyard in the daytime and we would love to try the great family table Sunday lunch: for parties of over six (booked in advance) they will roast your favourite lunch and serve it to your table ready to carve!

How homely and without the washing up!
