Time to Grow at Giggleswick
With Headmaster, Mr Mark Turnbull.
"We’re preparing our students to lead a happy and successful life, confident in who they are and possessing a range of skills to take them on beyond school.
Most importantly, we believe that education takes time. Our 360 senior school students (Year 7 to Sixth Form) have an extended school day from 8.15am to 6.15pm. Half their day is spent in class and the other half is focused on enjoying co-curricular activities, which includes over 60 clubs and societies every week. It’s not about filling time, it’s about making the most of their time here. We’re extremely lucky to be located where we are, and through our Outdoor Pursuits programme we really make the most of the fantastic environment around us. Every piece of flat land in our grounds has a court, a pitch and even a golf course, and every slope is used to climb, cycle, hike and run.
As well as Outdoor Pursuits, our co-curriculum has so much to offer, including sports, creative and dramatic arts, RAF, CFF, community work and volunteering. Our teachers are so passionate and dedicated, more than happy to give up their one day off a week to take the students on trips and excursions, helping to develop the potential and passions of every pupil. We have nearly 200 staff at Giggleswick and everyone works extremely hard to make sure everything we do is done to the highest possible standard. It’s felt by the staff and the students that this isn’t just a school, but a community.
Through scholarships, bursaries, fundraising initiatives and external trust funding, we do all we can to make a Giggleswick education as accessible and affordable for as many families and children as possible.”
“I started as an Art Scholar at Giggleswick in Year 9 and the school has helped me not just develop another talent in Music but go on to study it at University too.” Faye, U6, 2017
“I’ve tried so many things I wouldn’t have otherwise, especially in outdoor pursuits. It’s shown me if you put the time in, you can get so much out of life.” Euan, 16
